At Ellis Family Dentistry, we are able perform the entire implant procedure, including the implant surgery (placement) and the implant  restoration (crown, bridge, denture, etc.) all in one location!  We are here for you from start to finish!

There is a great benefit to having dental  implants done comprehensively at your general dentist.  Since Dr. Ellis will be working with you for your entire treatment, we can more closely control, monitor, and direct your treatment for a more customized result.  Also, you won't have to worry about traveling to different offices for your treatment, as Dr. Ellis will conveniently perform all of your work here at Ellis Family Dentistry.

Dr. Jonathan is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, a world famous organization for dental implant education and practice.

Implants are an increasingly popular method of tooth replacement involving a titanium screw placed in the bone with a crown or other form of tooth replacement  fabricated on top of this. Dental implants are the most successful type of implant in all of medicine.  They are the most technologically advanced, sophisticated, and definitive form of tooth replacement in dentistry.  With proper maintenance, they could potentially last a lifetime!

In addition to single implant crowns and implant supported bridges,  implants are also extremely effective at anchoring partial and full dentures.   This "implant retainted denture" drastically improves fit and retention over traditional dentures.  For patients who do not wish to wear a removable denture at all, Dr. Ellis can even custom fabricate replacement teeth for a complete arch ALL on implants that stays in at all times (see tab for Implant Hybrid Prosthesis).  At Ellis Family Dentistry, we have had some wonderful experiences with these advances in implant dentistry.

Procedure

The natural tooth structure has two main sections, the root and the crown. The root is the section of the tooth that is below the gum line. The first step of the procedure is surgical placement of the implant, where a metal dental implant is placed to act as the root of the missing tooth.

Under regular dental anesthetic, the gum tissue is opened and the dentist places the implant into the jawbone. When this is achieved, the tissue is then sutured closed. There is generally no significant discomfort with this procedure and typically only takes about an hour.

After the initial surgery, there is generally a 2-4 month period when Dr. Ellis will monitor the implant. During this time, the bone will grow around the implant in a process called osseointegration. A temporary replacement tooth/teeth may be utilized during this time period to allow for chewing and to preserve the cosmetic appearance. Patients currently wearing dentures may continue to wear them during this time.

Once the implant is fully secured in the bone, Dr. Ellis will complete the final restoration for the implant. This could include single crowns, implant supported bridges, implant retained dentures, and even same-day permanent implant supported prostheses.
